MONACOGRAND PRIX
The Crown Jewel of Formula 1 — Where glamour meets danger on the most demanding street circuit in the world.
The History of Monaco
Nearly a century of racing royalty
The Monaco Grand Prix is not just a race—it's the most prestigious event in motorsport. First held in 1929, it predates the Formula 1 World Championship itself and has been a fixture since the championship began in 1950.
The circuit winds through the streets of Monte Carlo, passing the famous Casino, diving through the tunnel, and hugging the harbor. At just 3.337 km, it's the shortest circuit on the calendar, but its tight corners and unforgiving barriers make it the most demanding.
Overtaking is nearly impossible. The narrow streets leave no room for error, and qualifying is crucial. The saying goes: "Win Monaco, and you've won the most important race of the year."
Ayrton Senna was the master of Monaco, winning six times. His 1988 qualifying lap—where he was 1.4 seconds faster than anyone—is considered one of the greatest laps in F1 history. He described entering a trance-like state, pushing beyond what he thought possible.
Today, Monaco remains the race every driver dreams of winning. The combination of history, glamour, and pure driving challenge makes it the crown jewel of Formula 1.
